Congrats! and happy holidays.

its holidays this week. as usual, some work with a lot of play. unlike work-life balance, I don't think I would ever want to attain study-play balance. because that would require me to cut down my play time tremendously. letting it stay the way it is now, I guess its quite bad for my results. but as what I've mentioned at the start of this paragraph, its holidays this week.

another two friends of mine got together over the weekend. congrats to them and all the best for the two of them. funnily how people just got together with each other at this foreign land. like what once of my friend once said, 'the season of love'. but as usual, I guess in life things just come and go. so people are just holding on to whatever is coming by, taking the right opportunities to do the right things that they think are right at the right time.

some of you all may wonder, what about me?
well, all I have to say for now is that I'm trying to adapt to changes in my life, having so many couples around me and attempting not to overcharge the voltage level within me. an emotionally attached girl I am, some things are not that easy to change. in search for a new and interesting life, at the same time trying hard to pay attention to everything around me. I think, at the end of the day, I still prefer being single and available for now. at least when I face changes (not always the negative ones), I go through it alone.

happy holidays! =)

K-session. Royal Melbourne Show.

not only the ball zoomed pass. I think everyday after that zoomed pass like nobody's business. because its mid-semester break again, the so-called break for us to recharge and 'fight' for the remaining weeks to exams. this one week in semester two is so cheater bug, because I never rest properly and all I can think of is to play damn hard and have the most amount of fun. this is further supported by the following pictures which are taken within the 2 days after the ball.

went to sing k on saturday with dajie, seawin, hunseang, yuping, cyndee, jason, ernest and tommy. quality time spent in that enclosed room for 5 hours from 1-6. this is like the first time I'm singing here in melbourne. costs $18.80, includes a meal and a drink. after that had dumplings at some alley near chinatown, bubble tea at swanston (near townhall) and headed to lygon for gelato. ended the night by 2+ hours of pool game in cue centre, which concludes my day at midnight. quite surprised and shocked that I can actually still walk straight in the morning, considering I woke up merely after 5 hours of rest from the ball and partying.

as I was saying, the sunday was exciting too. waited for seawin to end church service, then chiong-ed to the showgrounds for the once-in-a-year Royal Melbourne Show. a big cum money-sucking fun fair in foreign lands I would say. an eye opening opportunity as it is, the show bags drew my attention and the food part was enjoyable as it is.

tried something called 'sparkling honey', honey drink with gas and honey aftertaste. ben and seawin bought dippin' dots ice cream, the revolutionary (as they claim to be) type of ice cream that wouldn't melt so fast like those traditional ones. as for souveniers, bought some cranberry+pistachio+cherry soft nougat. if I can resist the temptation of eating it, I presume I should be bringing some back. bought an M&M's show bag and got a blue plush toy. that's like the only toy that I 've got for the day considering I spent $10 bucks on stall games. most of the people that went to the show actually won plush toys that are of considerably big size. with more risk comes more return. this is particularly true especially when I bumped into a friend that won 2 mario plush toys. posed with them for a picture anyways.

left in the evening before the fireworks. didn't manage to find any explanation for that since I'm naturally attracted to fireworks and I didn't ride on the ferris wheel. went out to the city, had bubble tea and then crashed the gates of AUG opening. Australian University Games in full, is like a sports meet that is going on throughout this whole week. witnessing the enthusiasm of each and every participating university made me think of sports meet last time. however, the actions and spirits are way stronger as compared to anything I've seen so far. its like when they cheered I practically got sprung off my seat. after that we joined jeanie, jiarou, liliane and seingwan for dinner at lygon. freddo's gelato ended our day on the sweet note and off I go to snoozeland after all the hee-haa-huu.

Spring Elegance Ball

it was this night. we made it possible.
Spring Elegance 2008, a ball put up by MUMSU and MaSS.
double the work, double the fun!

in this post there are some photos that are taken by my camera. I have yet to gather all the pictures taken that night. didn't take much pictures that night, don't know why, but I guess I was just busy. busy posing, busy hosting, busy busy... just to run through my schedule on that day, I started my day at 0845. went to albert by the lake to prepare the door gifts. after that short of ribbons, so went down to bourke street to get it. had bubble tea in central, then reach home at 1440. prepared, then boarded the cab at 1630, headed for the venue once again. stayed there all the way till the 'show'. after that it was party time~~~

somehow the night feels like forever. like with Einstein's general relativity theory, when I was actually experiencing the zooming past of the night, time moves so slowly that I tend to remember every single thing that is going on. hence feeling forever. much thanks to everybody who has made the night a success, including those attending. I would say this is one of the best dinners in my life this year, being not just one dressed up nicely and eat expensive food. of course, I have to thank whoever that gave me the chance of being the game master (personally I don't really like being called a game mistress) and also for participating in the logistics team. of course, a round of applause for Ben Wong for being a wonderful partner and I really enjoyed working together.

apart from Albert by the Lake, I think I had a very very good time in se7en too. without going into the very details about the happenings there, I shall conclude this post with heaps of pictures and of course a 'list' of who's in the picture.

in order of appearance:
jiarou. ben wong. fiona. seingwan. mervyn. edwin. pohkim. singping. liliane. eugene. ben sim. vuidak. harvey. eujoon. nick wong. helina. junyew. hunseang. june. seawin. suchin. aiyeen. yianyian. yvonne. zixiang. cheryl. lawrence.

Strategic Analysis

this sounds really crazy. because I've submitted my strategic analysis about westpac a few hours ago. and I didn't sleep for yet another night. 3500 words was indeed a little blood-consuming. and I must say that night times in melbourne are freaking COLD~

following with the submission today, it marks a little end to assessment for me. next week or two is actually my 'play' time, busy as it is but I think it will be a good one. volunteering jobs, remaining assignment, preparation for exams and of course spending some quality time with friends will be the main agenda in my life nowadays.

but the very foremost item on my agenda now would be the ball coming up this friday. like oh my gosh, how long was it since I last attended such formal event. of course, with the personal preparations also comes the game master's duty. even though I know this time round I am not really in the committee from the start, but I would like to make the games section of the ball an interactive and enjoyable time.

kk. do look forward to the pictures then!

Dress-ing for the upcoming ball

despite taking the risk of not being able to spit out 3500 words by tuesday, I went out today. one more 'formal' and 'official' reason was to accompany dajie to get her dress for the ball. but I guess I just wanted to be outside to chill. hence we went out for the whole day, of course came back with the thing that we searched for. =)

***
how hard is it to get a dress/gown/attire for such a formal event like a ball?
is that one suitable? within budget?
(I think the most important should be...)
will I be the star of the night with this piece of garment?

hard as it is, actually getting a dress is just like any other piece of clothing. you go for first impression, apply some common sense in deciding if you should give it a try and then figure about whether the price is worth it. well, just a little more to that, you will think of whether the particular piece is suitable for the event, matching to the theme set. if you want to 'recycle' that particular dress, you will think of the kinds of accessories that goes with it, all the possible combination of things that goes with all different occasions possible. essentially, getting such dress is even more complicated than getting a new pair of shoes. you have to consider its durability, design... ... ... all those stuff.

come to think of it, its almost the steps applicable generally to buying things for yourself. my mindset would be, spend as much, since you are going to use it, why save?

haha, prove me wrong.

back to the 3500 words assignment.

Coping with...

I need to find out a way to juggle between books and playtime. well, actually I've thought of one, which is to wish that there's 240 hours a day and 200 hours are dedicated to zzz-ing. nowadays I hardly reach that 6 hours a day and I have to admit that I don't look like a panda or an owl, I look like a zombie. I doubt the circles around my eyes are going anywhere because they are getting darker and darker and no matter what I do they just rooted there.

coming to think of it, 240 hours a day is a great idea isn't it? I just thought that if there are 240 hours a day probably I won't seriously spent all 200 hours just lying on the bed and resting my mind and soul. I mean like, if there's 240 hours, I will make all 240 hours interesting. so essentially it still comes down to making no difference. and if there's seriously 240 hours, I bet the the span of activities just get prolonged. so there's NO 240 hours a day but just 24 hours and 7 days in a week and 365 days in a year.

I do believe that I sound like somebody whose brain has just got electrocuted. it is true that several hours ago there was a short circuit in my unit and I was taking bath at that time. so that creates the probability of some amount of current being 'showered' onto me during that split second of pitch blackness. as a result I am just spitting so much nonsense out of me and I still get stressed over myself because of not working on that 3500 words strategic analysis and instead blogging right now.

had a psychology lecture on stress and coping today. interesting as the content is, I do not deny the fact that I am stressed right now. there are like tonnes of things on my agenda, both the short term and long term ones. by the means of long terms it just doesn't refer only to those like 'getting a boyfriend' and 'earning big money'. long terms in this context refers to what I am going to do next year when I return to sunway campus and what is the next step for me to take once I graduated and so on. mentioning about this, I think it stresses me a lil to actually find out that graduate training usually commences 18 months from the graduation. meaning that 18 months of dilly-dallying and I better get myself joining in the workforce if not I might be better off studying for another course.

short term stuff on the other hand are more urgent in one sense and are more specific as well. I have an upcoming 3500 due and I have one more presentation and one test for the semester. then in almost 5 weeks' time I am going to squeeze every single drop of not-so-good-quality juice out of my brain in the exam hall. quality will depend on the 5 weeks where I will start to see myself crashing in every single bit of information into the data bank and praying hard to hope it stays there. and if everything goes on well I should be spitting out all those in my mind and scribble onto the exam script and hopefully get some decent grades out of it.

then I will be on the aeroplane going to some place with sun, sand and sea =)
(and the lecturer mention that we do face certain amount of stress even during holidays)

Because I'm a girl

I think I've listened to this song some time ago and I'm sure I've watched this MV before.
but I just couldn't remember why did I came across this song last time.
a friend of mine had it in his handphone, which he played while we were on the road.
decided to come back and 'fish' the MV from imeem.
just to re-discover the astonishment that I used to get when I first heard this song.

here you go.

Because I'm A Girl - Kiss

I do understand that the same story has been duplicated across several other songs/shows/movies. but I guess this one is unique and one of the first ones. its special because I don't understand a single word in the lyrics and yet I almost cried when I saw this MV. funny huh?!

Osaka's Golden Age

went to kimono exhibition today.
it was at the immigration museum and it is ending this sunday.
in fact the exhibition has been around since a long time ago (a few months I think).
but me and seawin only managed to go today (all thanks to our busy schedules).
in the exhibition we get to see a lot of kimonos, summer ones and the normal ones.
together with the kimono itself, there were also a display of the shoes and hairstyles.
didn't get to take any picture of the exhibits as they are flash-sensitive items.

of course, being a kimono exhibition, there were kimonos hung at one corner for trying.
the two of us had a great time there, learning how to wear a kimono properly.
tying the sashes was a challenge as you had to make sure it stays at that intended position.
and some random visitor of the museum actually watched us put it on.
heard one of the comments given by an 'audience', saying that the costume fits asian better.
haha.

an eye-opening experience for the both of us indeed. =)

E.X.A.M

exam timetable is out.
and now I have the schedule for all 3 of my papers.
quite saddistic, because my 3rd paper is VERY far away from my first 2.
thus causing a HUGE gap between my papers.
and leading me to a break which cannot be relaxed yet cannot stress too much.

rubbish.
23rd (aft) - Strategic Management
24th (mor) - Financial Management
10th (aft) - Organisational Change

I so don't understand why all the management papers have to be in the afternoon.
so that I can sleep?!

SeaWin's 20th + randoms

fine, I'm screwed. =(
its THE flu bug that has been around for some time.
it has attacked my immune system and had a victory.
so now my voice is dead sexy.

what more I have an assessment each week for the following weeks.
all the way till exams and the weights of these assessments are going to screw me further.
and of all times of the year my body chose to protest NOW.
bring efficiency level to almost 0.

oh what the crap.

***
despite being sick, I went ahead to give seawin a birthday surprise!
planned for a surprise celebration in advance at meat and wine co.
ngam ngam its jocelyn's birthday on 9th as well, so ajak-ed her along.

14 of us in total, namely:
seawin,wyquin,ben,vuidak,samuel,pohkim,ganli.
jocelyn,hunseang,suchin,aiyeen,weelian,eugene,huiping.

the food there's NICE, albeit being costly.
worth the price they charge, I would say.
and the ambience was good too!
a great place for ribs, wine and friends =)

happy birthday to seawin and jocelyn!

***
somehow or another I'm involved in organising the MaSS spring elegance ball.
basically I'm in logistics now, since being allocated the duty of game master.
went for the emcee position at first, but didn't get through and landed up with this.
so now I'll be working with ben and seawin (and someone from Clayton) in logistics.
in the midst of the assignments and presentations, I've landed myself in a busier schedule.
and that's not including the upcoming exams.

please support the spring elegance ball jointly put up by MaSS and MUMSU.
it'll be held on the 26th September at Albert Park.
tickets up on sale this week, $75pp or $560 for a table of 8.

***
and the last thing screwing me up is about my exam timetable.
apparently WES only tells me that I have 2 papers on the 23rd and 24th.
even though this semester I'm suppose to be having lesser papers, there's one paper missing.
and because of its absence from my schedule, it made plannings for after exams harder.
I personally don't like this because I have 2 papers on the first 2 days of the exam period.
so the 3rd paper is creating this HUGE suspense within me.
because I don't want it to land somewhere too far from the intense schedule.
yet I have no say over it.

it has to come out SOON.
this is so rubbish, signing in and out of WES every now and then like an idiot.

MSO pops: The Best of the West End.

the music melted me in my chair.
not just the vocal but the orchestra as well.
the songs performed were from famous musicals.

yet another wonderful concert experience.
and I realize I really miss the stage.
on stage, off stage. =)
